Bel Air Home Hit by Lightning, Officials Say

The incident was one of 17 fire calls the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company handled Monday.

A home in Bel Air was struck by lightning Monday night, according officials.

At 8:41 p.m., firefighters were at a residence in the 600 block of Camelot Drive, where fire was believed to be in the walls, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The homeowner saw lightning hit the rain gutter in the back of the house, then saw flames coming from the wall, according to a report from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

Crews took siding off and used a saw to open the wall, according to the report.

There was $10,000 in damage, the report said. Nobody was injured, according to Gardiner.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company reported the Camelot Drive call was the fourteenth of seventeen in handled on Monday.
