Teen Behind Bomb Threats Made At Aberdeen HS, Other MD Schools: Police

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Police believe a 17-year-old girl is behind the bomb threats made against eight Maryland schools recently.

Police searched all of the schools and no legitimate threats were uncovered. Detectives did find social media posts made by the teen where she "boasted about previous school threats she made and got away with," according to WJZ News.

On March 5 around 2:27 a.m., Aberdeen police officers were informed of a potential bomb threat at Aberdeen High School, Patch reported previously. A school employee reported to police that a threat was received on social media and forwarded images with comments to investigators, Captain C. William Reiber with the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Detectives investigated the message's origins and the threat was determined to not be credible and there was no threat to the school's students and staff.

The teen allegedly made the threats at the following schools:

• Kenwood High School
• Eastern Technical High School
• Chesapeake High School
• Stemmers Run Middle School
• Middle River Middle School
• Hawthorne Elementary
• Damascus High School (Montgomery County)
• Aberdeen High School (Harford County)

While Baltimore County police said they requested the teen be detained, the department of juvenile services released the 17-year-old to her parent.
