Teen Hit On MD 543 Ran Into Road: Police
A 14-year-old boy was airlifted for medical treatment after a crash Thursday on Route 543, officials said.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD ā A teen was airlifted Thursday after being hit by a vehicle on MD 543, officials said.
The 14-year-old boy was hit by a black Infiniti on southbound MD 543, according to Maryland State Police.
Officials said the teen ran between two stopped vehicles on the northbound part of the road, then continued into the southbound lane and collided with a 2011 Infiniti. on the driver's side.

According to police, the boy did not cross at a place that was legal for pedestrians. A witness reportedly said the teen flew over the vehicle and landed on the road.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:38 p.m. on MD 543 in the area of Gilmer Way, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. First responders from Abingdon and Aberdeen handled the crash scene, she said.

As a result of the collision, the teen was flown to a pediatric trauma center in serious condition, according to Chenworth.
Police said the medevac took the boy to Johns Hopkins Hospital's pediatric unit.
His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Sgt. Cioka of Maryland State Police.
The driver of the Infiniti was uninjured, and there were no charges pending, Cioka told Patch Thursday evening. He said the crash remained under investigation.
