Two Stabbed in Abingdon, Flown to Shock Trauma: Sheriff

ABINGDON, MD – Two men were taken to shock trauma with stab wounds and the suspect was at large after a struggle at an Abingdon home Saturday morning, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect knew the victims and had been staying in a house with them in the 3600 block of B&O Road in Abingdon, the sheriff’s office reported.

There was an assault and subsequently a struggle at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, according to the report.
Deputies responded to the residence after one of the victims called 911, said Cristie Kahler, spokeswoman for the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The 911 call was received at 7:02 a.m. and deputies arrived one minute later, immediately rendering aid to the stabbing victims until medics arrived, the sheriff’s office reported.
Abingdon Fire Company and the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reportedly arrived, and after 8 a.m., Joppa reported that the helicopter was to land at Church Creek Elementary in Belcamp.
Charles Herman Thomas Sr., 73, and Charles Herman Thomas Jr., 48, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of stab wounds and blunt force trauma, the sheriff’s office reported. Both remained at shock trauma Saturday afternoon, one of them in critical condition, according to the report.
Deputies canvassed the area around the Abingdon house but did not find the suspect, the sheriff’s office reported.
A motive is unclear in the stabbings, the report stated.
“The nature of the relationship between the victims and the suspect is under investigation,” Kahler told Patch.
