Two Montgomery County firefighters suffered minor injuries battling a house fire that caused $1.5 million damage.

NORTH BETHESDA, MD — A house fire in North Bethesda caused an estimated $1.5 million in damages on Sunday night, according to a Montgomery County fire official.

Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said about 85 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 11801 Danville Drive, next to the Green Acres School, at 11:20 p.m.

According to Piringer, it took firefighters 30 minutes to knock down the bulk of the fire. Piringer said the family who lived at the house heard some noises and was able to safely evacuate to a neighbor’s house. He said two firefighters suffered minor injuries at the scene.

The fire appears to have originated on the front porch, Piringer said, and it has been ruled accidental in nature. He said a pet cat remains missing.

Firefighters remained on the scene overnight to monitor some hot spots, according to Piringer.
