'Moving Right Along': Metro Offers Update On Red Line Construction

BETHESDA, MD — Metro officials offered an update and a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing construction for the Red Line over the weekend.

The work, which includes the construction of a second mezzanine, is being carried out as part of Metro's efforts to connect the Grosvenor-Strathmore Station to the future Purple Line.

In a Sunday update, authorities with the public transportation system described efforts to reconstruct platforms at the Grosvenor-Strathmore Station as "moving right along."

Photos from the scene showed workers building out the station's platform, escalators and the tracks.

Work has been ongoing since early July, a move that included the temporary closure of several Metro stations in Montgomery County.

The construction work is scheduled to run through early September.
