2 Google products vital for your local, small business

These 2 Google products will help your local, small business be found online.

Most people know that Google is the world’s largest search engine. Not as many people know that Google loves Google. They rank their products high in the search results - which is why small businesses need to sign up for their Google products.   There are a lot of products, and they can be a little confusing to set up.  Here are two that are vital for your business.

Google+ Page

First, make sure you have a Google+ page for your business. In order to create one, you will need to have a Google+ profile (personal) page. [Note: If you have a google account, such as gmail, you already have a Google+ account. Just log in and look for more options or google products.] From your personal profile, look for ”Create Google+ page.” You will need to select a category for your business:

  1. local business
  2. product or brand
  3. company, institution or organization
  4. arts, entertainment or sports, or
  5. other

You will then need to complete information about your business. Make sure to fill in the Google+ page completely.  Here you will be able to post content, connect with other local businesses, and keep your customers up-to-date on upcoming events.

Google My Business

Second, you will want to sign up for Google My Business.  This product is either for storefront (restaurants, retail stores, etc.) or service area businesses (plumbers, food trucks, etc.).  You will need to first go through a verification process.  Again, you will need to fill out information about your business.

Then you will have a Google My Business dashboard that will allow businesses to post content, track insights, follow reviews and respond to customers.

There is an Android and iOS app available for Google My Business so that you can keep up on the go.

[Note:  those businesses who were members of Places for Businesses should be upgraded to the new Google My Business.]

I hope you will try these two Google products to increase visibility for your small business.
