200 Guests Pack Bethesda Frat Party; Host Faces 110 Charges
Fraternity party with ties to American University was so beer soaked that the air registered an alcohol level of .09, police say.

BETHESDA, MD — A Bethesda house that hosted an American University fraternity party was so soaked in beer after a kegger that the air registered an alcohol level of .09, authorities say.
That put the breathable air in the home – raided after complaints on Jan. 15 – over Maryland’s .08 legal limit for driving while intoxicated.
Montgomery County Police were called to the out-of-control beer bash at 5906 Walhonding Road, a house reportedly leased by Tyler Steinhardt, 22, of Bethesda.

Patrol officers saw a girl being carried to an Uber ride for transport to a hospital to be treated for alcohol poisoning, while 200 people were crammed into the home’s main floor. Dozens more partiers were found in the garage, and under beds and in closets, reports WUSA.
The police report says beer soaked through the floor boards, dripping into the basement, while the indoor air temperature was estimated at 100 degrees from the bodies packed into the house.

Steinhardt is charged with 110 counts of providing alcohol to a minor, according to Maryland online court records.
Another student, Jamieson Tymann, 21, of Washington, D.C., is charged with second-degree assault and resisting/interfering with an arrest for allegedly hitting a police officer. Tymann is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, an off-campus fraternity.
The fraternity’s website and Facebook page were inoperable on Wednesday.
Police say Steinhardt admitted to hosting the party, which included three kegs of beer, reports WJLA.
