4A State Basketball Finals Is All About MoCo
The championship game for the Class 4A state basketball finals will have a guaranteed Montgomery County winner this year.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A Class 4A basketball title is guaranteed for Montgomery County this year as all four teams competing hail from the region.
The boys championship game is set for Saturday, and will be between the James H. Blake and Walt Whitman high schools.
On Monday, the girls basketball teams of Walt Whitman and Richard Montgomery high schools face off against each other.

Should the Richard Montgomery Rockets win out against the Whitman Vikings, it will mark the team's first state title since 1996.
A Class 3A title is also up for grabs for the county. On Tuesday, the boys basketball team at Col. Zadok Magruder High School faces Anne Arundel County's South River High School.

All five matches will take place at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, on the University of Maryland's Baltimore campus. The arena is located at 1000 Hilltop Circle.
Both of the Class 4A games start at 7:30, with the Class 3A game being held at 5 p.m.
