All Charges Dropped In Alleged Assault Of Kellyanne Conway

BETHESDA, MD — Prosecutors have dropped charges against a woman accused of assaulting White House counselor Kellyanne Conway at a Bethesda restaurant last year, according to multiple outlets.

Mary Elizabeth Inabinett, 63, of Chevy Chase, had been facing charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct stemming from a heated altercation at Uncle Julio's Mexican restaurant in October, court records show.

Conway spoke about the alleged attack for the first time, publicly, in an interview with CNN, saying she was grabbed and shaken by a woman — later identified as Inabinett — while at Uncle Julio's with her middle school-aged daughter.

"Somebody was grabbing me from behind, grabbing my arms, and was shaking me to the point where I felt maybe somebody was hugging me," Conway told CNN in a story published Feb. 8.

"She was out of control. I don't even know how to explain her to you. She was just, her whole face was terror and anger. She was right here, and my daughter was right there. She ought to pay for that," she said.

Conway told the network that she called 911, but Inabinett left before police arrived.

Inabinett's trial was scheduled to start Monday. However, prosecutors decided to drop all charges against her, WJLA reported. Montgomery County Assistant State's Attorney Kathy Knight said that the Chevy Chase resident has no criminal record and did not injure Conway during the incident last year.

According to the news station, Knight said Inabinett has written Conway an apology letter.
