Arrest Made in Murder of 95-Year-Old Retired Naval Officer

A man who lives in the same Colesville senior citizen housing community has been charged with murder and credit card theft in the case.

A Silver Spring man has been charged with murder and credit card theft in the death of a 95-year-old man who lived in the same senior citizen housing community.

According to online court records, Eric S. Dyson, 60, of 531 Randolph Road, is charged in the death of Dan Belvin, 95, a retired Naval officer.

Montgomery Community Media reports Dyson and Belvin lived in the same senior community.

Dyson is charged with first-degree murder, plus nine counts of credit card theft and fraud, according to court records.

Belvin was found deceased with trauma to the upper body, police say. The homicide was discovered on Monday, Feb. 23, at about 12:30 p.m. after a concerned friend had not heard from the victim. The building property manager checked the apartment, found Belvin’s body, and called 9-1-1.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
