Bethesda Film Fest Showcases Diverse Documentary Shorts
Films include the art of painting with wax, the history and tradition of collard greens and a doctor walking the line of his own mortality.

From the Bethesda Urban Partnership: The 5th annual Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentaries made by local filmmakers on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, 2017. Screenings will be held at 7pm on March 17th and at 6pm and 8pm on March 18th at Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave. in downtown Bethesda. The Bethesda Film Fest is produced by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District.
The films selected for the screening include:
- Charlie & Sam – Ben Powell and Taylor Powell
- The Culture of Collards – Vanina Harel and Aditi Desai
- Encaustic – Joe Dzikiewicz and Jaclyn O’Laughlin
- Frogman – Tyler Trumbo
- The Sandman – Lauren Knapp
The evening will include a discussion with the filmmakers after the screenings. Tickets are available at www.bethesda.org for $10. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

Films were chosen by the Bethesda Film Fest selection panel, consisting of award-winning documentary filmmakers Sam Hampton, co-founder of Docs In Progress and Hampton Consulting & Film; Chithra Jeyaram, Founder and Creative Director of Real Talkies production company and Robin Smith, Founder and President of production company Video/Action.
Bethesda Film Fest is supported by Barbizon Lighting – Capitol, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, The Bernard Family Foundation, Bethesda Central Farm Markets, Creative Parties, The Donohoe Companies, EagleBank, The Jane Fairweather Team, The JBG Companies, Oxman Studios, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery and Stage 2 Productions.
