Bright Beginnings' Annual 5K Race aids homeless children and families facing extremely challenging economic climate

WASHINGTON, DC, (March 7, 2015): Bright Beginnings, Inc., a child and family development center for homeless families with young children, will raise awareness about the needs and challenges facing homeless children and their families through our 18th Annual 5K Race. The Bright Beginnings’ 5K Race starts at 8 a.m. at Hains Point, West Potomac Park in Washington, DC. Participants can register at www.brightbeginningsinc.org until Saturday, March 7th at 7a.m. or call 202-842-9090 for further information.
Sponsored by the Junior League of Washington, Bright Beginnings’ annual 5K is its largest fundraiser. There are currently 550 runners registered, and even more are expected to join the event. Event organizers hope to raise $75,000 this year, which will provide critically-needed financial resources that prepare homeless children for kindergarten and help get their families back on their feet.
“Our Bright Beginnings 5K is a perfect example of the village that comes to together to make a difference in the lives of homeless children and their families,” said Dr. Betty Jo Gaines, Bright Beginnings’ Executive Director. “We can transform challenges into bright beginnings. Each of us has an important role to play in giving homeless children and their parents the best chance of success in school and in life.”
