Church Burglarized, Vandalized In Chevy Chase: Police
Police say a man broke into a Chevy Chase church, destroyed property, and stole items from a donation bin. Watch the video here.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County police say a man broke into a Chevy Chase church earlier this month — destroying property, ransacking a classroom, and eating packaged food from a donation bin.
The burglary suspect allegedly entered the Chevy Chase United Methodist Church, at 7001 Connecticut Ave., around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Montgomery County police spokeswoman Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti said the man "forced entry to the church by breaking the glass on the front door" and spent approximately 45 minutes on church grounds.

During this time, Innocenti said the suspect destroyed several items, including glass windows, an exterior lamp, outdoor planters, and a glass sign.
According to police, he also ate packaged food and drank bottled water from a donation bin, ransacked a classroom, and stole a flag.

Authorities have released surveillance video of the suspect in hopes that the public can help identify him.
Anyone with information about this incident or suspect should call police at 240-773-6710. Anonymous tipsters can call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
