Coronavirus Latest: 4 County Residents Die From Virus

Officials say four more Montgomery County residents have died after contracting the new coronavirus.

BETHESDA, MD — Four more Montgomery County residents have died of COVID-19, according to officials.

The Maryland Department of Health reported that two men in their 70s, a man over 80, and a man in his 60s died from the new coronavirus. The county's death toll now stands at five.

County public health officials said that the man in his 60s was admitted to a local hospital, where he tested positive and passed away several hours later.

"Montgomery County residents are resilient. We will continue to support each other through this public health crisis and emerge as an even stronger, more unified community," Council President Sidney Katz said.

As of Wednesday morning, Maryland has 1,985 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. Montgomery County, the state's most populous jurisdiction, has been hit hardest. The total is now 447.
