Donations Needed to Provide Thanksgiving Meals

Bethesda and Chevy Chase residents are asked to donate so 80 less-fortunate families can enjoy a holiday meal.

Eighty Montgomery County Public Schools families will receive Thanksgiving dinner baskets with help from the Town of Chevy Chase, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Chevy and the Lawton Center.

The organizations need help from residents to fill the baskets with a wonderful holiday meal for families with very limited resources who are served by the county’s Linkages to Learning program.

Through Nov. 17, drop off a check payable to the YMCA - YFS or gift food cards from Giant or Safeway to the Town of Chevy Chase office. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; or drop off donations to Georgia Guhin, 4006 Rosemary Street.

A news release says $25 purchases a turkey, $50 purchases the groceries and $75 purchases an entire Thanksgiving dinner.

All donations, which are tax-deductible, are welcome. Questions? Contact Community Relations Co-Chair Bridget Hartman (301-654-4938 or bridget@hartmanjr.net).
