Posters of the Soviet period are characterized by their political nature. Having manifested itself during the revolution of 1917 as a loud and energetic agitator, a poster was equated with bayonets and thus expropriated by the Communist Party and State as the messenger. Soviet posters served the regime by carrying out social and a political order, while having certain aesthetic.
Yet at the same time, fine art posters of Soviet films, plays, concerts, circus performances, art exhibitions, and other major cultural events highlight and chronicle the cultural life of the country that did not cease to exist through even the most difficult and regimented times.
