Flash Flood Watch for Region Monday

Heavy rain expected with thunderstorms well into the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Dangerous wet weather is expected to arrive in the region today, bringing conditions for possible flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash flood watch is in effect for the Montgomery County area from noon until 6 a.m. Tuesday as thunderstorms arrive and stick around through the night.

“Some of the storms will contain torrential downpours which may lead to flash flooding,” according to the NWS statement. “Hourly rainfall rates within the thunderstorms may exceed 1 to 2 inches per hour.”

Recent rainfall is expected to allow the stormwater runoff to collect, potentially causing rivers and creeks to rise rapidly and urban flooding.
