Free Concert: An Evening of Musical Vignettes with Michael Adcock

Acclaimed pianist and Washington Conservatory member Dr. Michael Adcock presents a virtuoso, free program featuring compositions by Duphly.

Pianist Michael Adcock performs a free concert on Saturday, May 14 at 8 pm presented by the Washington Conservatory of Music at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church, One Westmoreland Circle, Bethesda at Massachusetts and Western Avenues, the boundary of DC and Bethesda. (Donations are welcome at the door.)

The concert is comprised of a series of diverse and relatively short works by Jacques Duphly, Francois Couperin, Claude Balbastre, Franz Schubert, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Amy Beach, Claude Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Anatoly Liadov and Strauss-Grunfeld.

A “Wine & Words” question and answer session with Michael Adcock immediately follows the performance, in the lower level social hall.

Michael Adcock has cultivated a successful career as both a soloist and frequent collaborator. Praised for his "unusually fresh and arresting approach to the piano" (Washington Post), he appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony and in chamber music concerts with notable musicians including Denyce Graves, James Buswell, Ani Kavafian, Gervase dePeyer, David Jolley, and the St. Petersburg String Quartet. He was winner of the 1998 Lili Boulanger Memorial Award and made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut the same year. Among other awards received, he was prizewinner in the Washington International Competition and Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition, and has performed in France, Italy and Australia, as well as the U.S. Adcock received a Doctorate of Musical Arts at The Peabody Conservatory. During the summer, he is a faculty member at the Sarasota Music Festival in Florida and currently is a faculty member of The Washington Conservatory of Music.

This is the final event of the Washington Conservatory Piano Plus! 2015-16 concert season. The Washington Conservatory is a nationally accredited community music school for students of all ages. The Conservatory welcomes both seasoned and novice classical concert-goers and encourages families to attend with their children. Back balcony seating is suggested for families with small children.
