La Madeleine Opens at Pike and Rose on Thursday, February 19
"Rompre le Pain" (Breaking Bread) Rewards First 50 Guests in Line at 6:30 a.m. with Handmade Bread Every Week for a Year
Residents, neighboring businesses and guests at Pike & Rose, the mixed-use residential, retail and entertainment neighborhood in the heart of Montgomery County’s White Flint District, celebrates the return of la Madeleine. Opening at 11610 Old Georgetown Road, la Madeleine offers a distinctive country French café experience complete with its signature recipes that are handcrafted and made to order in a warm and relaxing environment. This is the fourth la Madeleine location in Montgomery County (Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Rockville) and third to open regionally in the past six months (Gaithersburg/Downtown Crown and Kingstowne/Alexandria).
To celebrate this highly anticipated café at one of the area’s most prestigious destinations, la Madeleine is sharing its joie de vivre (joy of life) with Pike & Rose and the surrounding communities through a remarkable opening event. La Madeleine’s Rompre le Pain, or breaking bread, will reward the first 50 guests in line at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 with a weekly supply of the brand’s fresh baked breads for a year. The café will present the first 50 guests with certificates to redeem their delicious rewards each week during a 12-month period.
“There is a lot of excitement about la Madeleine returning to the area, after 20 years in Rockville we are thrilled to be serving our old guests again as new. We are inviting guests to break bread with us as we honor our French bakery tradition with Rompre le Pain,” said John Cahill, chief operating officer at la Madeleine. “Our Rompre le Pain participants will be filing through the doors just as our first batch of fresh-baked breads are coming out of the oven. We are anticipating an excited crowd of guests on the first day right as doors open.”

The distinguished bakery café, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, features more than 75 made-from-scratch menu items using classic French techniques, including the brand’s signature Tomato Basil Soupe, Caesar Salade, Country French Breakfast, Croque Monsieur and Chicken la Madeleine. The café also features an open display bakery where guests can see pastry chefs creating la Madeleine’s signature viennoiseries and pâtisseries.
Encouraging all to take a momentary break and unwind without the rush of the day in their way, the new Pike & Rose café is la Madeleine’s tenth location in the Greater Washington D.C. area. The design reflects the brand’s new layout and décor, which unites comfort with a country French atmosphere – the unmistakable la Madeleine motif. Wood floors, hearth fireplaces, rustic beams and a lighter color palette all accentuate the brand’s updated look and feel, creating an inviting atmosphere to enjoy a meal with family, friends and colleagues.
