Luxury Sunglass Boutique Robbery Suspect Image Released

CHEVY CHASE, MD — Surveillance video of a suspect in the assault of an ILORI store employee and robbery at the Friendship Heights boutique has been released by Montgomery County Police. On Friday, investigators released surveillance video of the suspect in the Dec. 5 robbery of the designer sunglass and eyeglass store, and asked for the public’s help in identifying the person caught on camera.

Detectives say the suspect entered the ILORI store at 5530 Western Ave. and immediately used pepper spray on a store employee. The suspect then stole five Chanel sunglasses worth a total of $3,600 from a display case and fled.

The thief was last seen on foot southbound on Wisconsin Avenue into Washington, D.C. The store employee who was pepper sprayed told investigators that she recognized the woman, who was in the store on Dec. 3. According to the employee, the suspect was a male presenting as a female, possibly a transgender female. On Dec. 3 the suspect was asked to leave the store because of suspicions that she was attempting to steal merchandise.
