Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Is Fatally Shot: Police

A homicide investigation is underway after a man died Thursday following a shooting in Darnestown, police said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was fatally shot early Thursday in Darnestown.

Authorities have not identified the man.

Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department were dispatched just before 6 a.m. for reports of a shooting at the 12000 block of Carrington Hill Drive.

At the scene, officers found the man inside his home, suffering from "apparent gunshot wounds."

Pete Piringer, of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said several units responded to the home at the Willow Ridge community. At the time, he described the man's injuries as life-threatening.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"At this time, there is no suspect information available, and no one is in custody," police said in a release.
