Maryland’s 100 Best Public High Schools: New List Released

Poolesville High School in the Montgomery County Public Schools system is Maryland’s best public high school for 2019, according to a new set of rankings released by data compiler Niche.com this week. Four Maryland high schools made the list of the 100 best public schools in the country.

The rankings were released as part of Niche’s 2019 K-12 rankings. Poolesville was ranked No. 30 in the country, while Winston Churchill High School in Potomac ranked No. 82 nationally, Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda placed at No. 93 overall and Thomas Wootton High School in Rockville was ranked No. 98 in the country.

Seven of the state's top schools are in Montgomery County, and the other three top places went to schools in Howard County.

According to Niche, the best public high school in the country is Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois.
