MD Stem Cell Research Symposium To Be Held in Bethesda
Symposium is MD's premier event enabling cell therapy basic research and technologies, from the lab to pre-clinical to commercialization.

The Eighth Annual Maryland Stem Cell Research (MSCR) Symposium – Maryland’s premier event enabling cell therapy basic research and technologies, from the lab to pre-clinical to commercialization – will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 23-24, at the Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center (5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda, Md.).
Presented by the Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission, the MSCR Symposium will feature comprehensive scientific talks, poster presentations, and networking.
This year, the MSCR Symposium will be integrated with Bio+Tech16, the first event of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic to showcase the life science, stem cell and technology sectors, and promote collaboration between professionals in those industries. Bio+Tech16, presented by the Tech Council of Maryland, will connect more than 500 technology and life sciences professionals with leading global brands, venture capitalists and promising start-ups.

“The MSCR Symposium will bring together this region’s entire stem cell community, and coupled with Bio+Tech16, will provide unparalleled access to technologies, talent and capital, facilitating relationships and advancing innovation,” says Dr. Dan Gincel, Executive Director of the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund at TEDCO.
Established by the Governor and the Maryland General Assembly through the Maryland Stem Cell Research Act of 2006, the Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission and its Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) promotes State-funded stem cell research and cures through grants and loans to both public and private entities in Maryland. To date, more than $120 million has been committed to 349 research projects through MSCRF.

The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) was established by the State of Maryland under the Maryland Stem Cell Research Act of 2006 to promote State-funded stem cell research and cures through grants and loans to public and private entities in the State. Administered by The Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), the MSCRF is overseen by an independent Commission that sets policy and develops criteria, standards and requirements for applications to the Fund.
