Montgomery County Adds 107 New COVID-19 Cases; Deaths Total 796
Montgomery County, which has been in phase two of its reopening plan since June, now has 21,574 new coronavirus cases and 796 deaths.
BETHESDA, MD — The number of new coronavirus cases in Montgomery County rose by 107 to 21,574, according to data released Thursday by the Maryland Department of Health.
One more death linked to COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, was reported in the last 24 hours. The countywide death toll now stands at 796.
Another 40 people, according to health officials, may have died from COVID-19, but a laboratory test is still needed to confirm the cause of death. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

The county, which is home to roughly 1.1 million people, continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 28,202, according to the latest figures.
Statewide, there have been 118,519 confirmed cases, 3,717 deaths, and 144 "probable deaths." Of the 353 people currently hospitalized, 83 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
