Montgomery County Executive Has COVID-19
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said he has COVID-19, and urged residents to get vaccinated.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said Saturday he has COVID-19, and urged residents to get vaccinated and boosted, as well as wear a mask.
“I have mild symptoms, just feeling tired, and I am grateful to be vaccinated and boosted. I will be isolating but will continue to work from home,” he said.
“The dangers of the omicron variant are real, and I encourage everybody to take necessary steps to stay safe. Our community’s high vaccination rate is critical to ensuring our ability to make it through this. Please remain vigilant, wear a mask, and get vaccinated and boosted!,” Elrich said.

He plans to work from home as he isolates.
The Montgomery County Council issued a statement wishing Elrich a full and swift recovery from COVID-19.

"We also want to encourage all residents to get their COVID-19 booster as soon as possible to help contain this latest COVID-19 surge," the council said. "Montgomery County's high vaccination rate is essential to mitigating the impact of the virus and helping our community get through this phase of the pandemic."
Residents can make an appointment for a COVID test using this county site.
Testing is free. If you have insurance, you will be asked for your information, but there are no co-pays or deductibles.
A government ID or a doctor's order is not required to get tested.

If you are age 12 and older, you may walk in to county-run clinics without an appointment; children ages 5 to 11 must have appointments. Walk-up appointments depend on vaccine availability on site, and are not guaranteed.
