BETHESDA, MD — A Montgomery County family is speaking out after their Nissan SUV spontaneously exploded in the driveway of their Bethesda home.
In a time-lapse video from a doorbell camera obtained by Fox 5 DC, the Hill family's 2015 Nissan Murano began smoking under the hood before it finally caught fire, causing the airbags to explode. The incident happened May 14 around 5:45 a.m., the family told the station in an exclusive interview.
"At first, we thought someone was breaking in, and we were terrified. When my husband told me that the vehicle was on fire and to call 911, my first priority was getting our kids out of the house," Vicki Hill told Fox 5.
