BETHESDA, MD — A person was hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a train in the Bethesda Metro Station Saturday afternoon, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said on Twitter.

The person was stuck under the train but was conscious and alert before crews got them out, according to Piringer. The collision was "likely intentional," Piringer said.

The train conductor was evaluated for injuries. There were other cars at the platform and in the tunnel, and all passengers were evacuated, according to Piringer.
