Police: Homicide Victim Appeared to Know Killer

Montgomery County Police continue to investigate the shooting death of a Washington, D.C., man found dead in the Bel Pre area.

Detectives believe the victim of a fatal shooting in the Bel Pre area may have known his killer, say Montgomery County Police.

Detectives from Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division are continuing to investigate the homicide of a District man that was reported on Jan. 25.

On Monday, detectives said that based on evidence at the scene, they do not believe the homicide was random. Instead, investigators believe the victim and suspect may have known each other or had some previous association.

Police were called early Sunday to an apartment complex lot located at Whispering Pines Drive and Weeping Willow Court. Dispatachers had received a 911 call from a passerby who reported a person appeared to be slumped over the wheel of a parked vehicle.

The victim -- identified as Wei Wu, 46, of the 400 block of K Street NW in Washington, D.C. – was found at the scene, police say. The medical examiner has ruled that Wu died from multiple gunshot wounds.
