Police Identify Homicide Victim Found Behind Bethesda Bus Stop

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County Police have released the identity and pictures of a man found dead behind a bus stop in Bethesda last month.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Francisco De La O De La Cruz of an unconfirmed address.

The body was discovered by a passerby in the 10000 block of Old Georgetown Rd. on Feb. 25. According to police, the individual called 911 around 5:30 p.m. and described the body being under a tarp or trash bag.

The remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. His death was ruled a homicide.

Officials said they do not believe that the homicide happened at the location where the body was found.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details were immediately released.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about this homicide to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. The county's Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the suspect's arrest: 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
