Silver Spring Pedestrian Dies After Virginia Crash
Thien Quang Cao's identity was a mystery at first — police released photos of his tattoos to help ID him, after he was struck by a car.

A Silver Spring man has been identified as the pedestrian who was fatally struck on a Virginia road last month and whose identity was a mystery — with only his tattoos to go on — authorities said.
Fairfax County Police eventually identified the victim, Thien Quang Cao, 52, after releasing photos of tattoos on his body.
Cao, of Silver Spring, was hit on Route 50 near Graham Road (see map below) on Nov. 19 and died late Monday night, Nov. 30, from injuries suffered in the crash, police said. Cao had been staying in the Loehmann’s Plaza area of Falls Church at the time of the crash.
An investigation determined Cao may have gotten off a bus and was attempting to cross Route 50 when he was struck by the vehicle. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.\Detectives have determined that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
