Taylor Gourmet Will Soon Return To Pike & Rose In North Bethesda
Taylor Gourmet, the defunct sandwich shop, will reopen three outposts in the D.C. metro area, including one in North Bethesda.

BETHESDA, MD — Taylor Gourmet is making a comeback.
The defunct sandwich shop announced on its website that it would reopen select locations starting this summer: one in the Pike & Rose development in North Bethesda and two others in Washington, D.C. Taylor Gourmet has not yet released its re-opening dates.
The announcement comes almost a year after Taylor Gourmet filed for bankruptcy and shut down all of its 17 outposts in the D.C. metro area. Specific reasons for the abrupt closure are unclear, but insiders have some idea, according to multiple news outlets.

People familiar with the company told The Washingtonian that sales began to fall after owner Casey Patton met with President Donald Trump at a small business roundtable in early 2017. As a result, locals called for boycotts. Patton tried to defend himself, telling The Washington Post that he also met with President Barack Obama at a roundtable in 2012.
Sources also told The Washingtonian that Taylor Gourmet expanded too fast. While still in operation, Taylor Gourmet had 17 stores in the D.C. metro area.

In an attempt to save Taylor Gourmet — which filed for bankruptcy last September — a company named Source Cuisine purchased the sandwich shop's assets.
Steve Kalifa, head of Source Cuisine, outbid Patten and fast-casual chain Cosi in a bankruptcy auction in March, according to The Washingtonian. He reportedly spent approximately $260,000 for the assets, which include the company's trademarks, recipes, and customer email list.
