Trial Date Booked For MD Olympian Accused Of Vandalizing Reflecting Pool: Report

BETHESDA, MD — Accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., U.S. Olympian David Hearn is now scheduled to appear for trial in September, according to reports.

The 67-year-old Bethesda resident was given a trial date of Sept. 28 by D.C. Superior Court Judge Toff Edelman on Monday.

Hearn previously pleaded not guilty on July 9 to a felony destruction of property charge.

Prosecutors have accused the Olympic canoeist of causing $1,000 worth of damage when he was inspecting pieces of sealant that had peeled from the Reflecting Pool.

The case is tied to the $14 million rehabilitation project by the Trump administration that came underway ahead of the U.S.' semiquincentennial.
