Urban Heights Set to Open in Downtown Bethesda

The Philippine and Southeast Asian restaurant will be open for business on April 23.

The Philippine and Southeast Asian flavored Urban Heights will open its doors on Thursday, April 23, in Bethesda, according to a news release.

While the culture might not be indicated in the name, the restaurant intends to create a heightened sense of quality and authenticity through superior ingredients and bona fide techniques. Enter executive chef Cliff Wharton, who has established himself as a pan-Asian culinary genius at Washington’s standard for creative Eastern Asian cuisine, TenPenh.

Wharton borrowed from his own Filipino heritage, finely tuned instinct for other Asian flavors, and penchant for mixing it up while developing the extensive list of small plates that dominate Urban Heights’ menu. This can be seen in the restaurant’s Tuna Bar, featuring an icy spread of the highest quality fish waiting to be turned into dishes such as ahi poke and tuna tartare, and the red curry shrimp with pineapple and jasmine rice in its reprisal role as Wharton’s signature dish.
