Vandalism Reported at North Bethesda Middle School

At approximately 2:40 a.m., detectives from the Montgomery County Police 2nd District responded to a call from security officers for a report of vandalism, according to a police media release.

Detectives found an ethnically-offensive word, a sexually-descriptive drawing and several initials painted on the outside of the building. They also found several windows had been broken, police said.

Detectives also discovered seven vehicles parked near the school on Beech Avenue with paint on them; one vehicle had the same ethnically-offensive word painted on it, police said.

Patch was on the scene earlier this afternoon and reports that the racial slur, drawing and obscenities are located on the school's back wall adjacent to the basketball court, and two side walls and on a door near the tennis court.

Detectives in the 1st District Investigative Section are currently investigating vandalism to , located at 8810 Postoak Road in Potomac, that occurred between 3:30 p.m. on July 13 and 9:45 a.m. on July 14. The extensive vandalism included painted images of a sexual nature and hate-based language, police said.

Police believe that the two incidents may be related due to the similar nature of the vandalism at both schools.
