Walt Whitman Student Dies, Vigil Planned
Students at Walt Whitman High School have planned a vigil in honor of a sophomore who died Monday night.

BETHESDA, MD — Students at Walt Whitman High School have decorated a locker and planned a vigil in honor of a sophomore who died Monday night. Principal Alan Goodwin wrote in an email to parents that Jordana “JoJo” Greenberg had died, reports Bethesda Beat.
Greenberg was a cheerleader, member of the junior varsity volleyball team and was going to be a leader of the Animal Rights Club next year, Goodwin said.
Students have planned a vigil for Greenberg at 7 p.m. Thursday in the school’s parking lot, reports the student newspaper, The Black and White.

Whitman will host a vigil honoring the life of sophomore JoJo Greenberg Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. in the parking lot. Goodwin asks that those attending bring their own matches.
Students were encouraged to wear jeans to school Wednesday to remember Greenberg.

School officials have not said how Greenberg died. Montgomery County Police have not commented on the death.
Counselors are meeting with students and staff, and MCPS has sent additional counselors and psychologists to help, Goodwin's email to parents said. "Nothing saddens me more than the loss of a child. I will share any information I learn from the family regarding arrangements as they become available," he wrote, according to a post on the DCUrbanMomandDads website.
