Winter Weather Alert: Not Again! Again.

Forecasters have issued another Winter Weather Advisory; no word on what the Tuesday night commute might look like yet.

The forecast is déjà vu all over again: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas, that goes into effect from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 3.

The advisory predicts a messy mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. The weather service advisory covers Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County and most of Montgomery County, including the cities of Annapolis, Columbia, Rockville and Germantown.

The NWS expects accumulations of an inch of snow and sleet in the region, plus 1/10th of an inch of ice on the roadways and sidewalks.

  • In Montgomery County, the NWS says to expect a chance of snow and sleet between 1 and 4 p.m. Tuesday, then freezing rain and sleet likely. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Little accumulation is expected.
  • Tuesday night look for rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet before 7 p.m., then rain or freezing rain between 7 and 10 p.m., then rain after 10 p.m. Low around 33. Little or no ice or sleet accumulation is expected.

The National Weather Service says that roads with snow and ice Tuesday night could make traveling dangerous.

The high on Wednesday is expected to hit the upper 40s across the area, according to the National Weather Service, so look for only rain. Thursday’s high drops to 32, with a 50 percent chance of snow.
