17 High Schoolers Graduate From Prince George's Fire Cadet Course
Seventeen students from two high schools have graduated from a two-year fire cadet course that prepares them to become firefighters.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Seventeen cadets from Charles Herbert Flowers and Gwynn Park high schools recently were honored for completing a rigorous two-year course in fire fighting.
Now in its 11th year, the fire cadet course has produced new recruits for the Prince George's County Fire Department and other departments. Offered through the Career & Technical Education Department at Prince George's County Public Schools, the course required "mental toughness, courage and plenty of physical challenges," school officials noted.
In the video below, watch as the cadets wearing their heavy gear scramble up ladders onto a burning building as well as their reactions to their graduation ceremony.
