• Bowie State University to lay off 20 faculty members amid $18 million deficit (thebanner.com) — Bowie State University, a major local institution, plans to lay off about 20 faculty members, including at least one tenured professor, as it confronts an $18 million deficit and ongoing financial pressures through 2028. After already cutting 75 staff jobs and suspending several degree programs, the university's restructuring raises serious questions for Bowie families about course availability, class sizes, and students' paths to graduation.
   

• Nettie's Child Announces The Therapy Tour (savannahtribune.com) — A major contemporary gospel double bill, Anthony Brown & group therAPy with Maurette Brown Clark, is bringing The Therapy Tour to Bowie State University on October 18, giving local fans a chance to experience their new music live. The tour spans churches and venues across the East and South, but Bowie gets one of the key mid-October stops.
   

• Maryland Chabad Institutions Among Recipients of $8.6 Million in Federal Security Grants (crownheights.info) — A local Bowie congregation, Chabad Lubavitch of Bowie Maryland Inc., is among four Chabad centers statewide receiving part of $8.6 million in new federal security grants. The funding will help strengthen building security and preparedness so congregants, students, and visitors in Bowie can worship and gather more safely amid rising concerns about threats to religious institutions.
