2 Shot During Meet-Up After Online Sale

Two people were shot during a meeting to carry out a transaction following an online sale, police report.

LAUREL, MD — Two people were injured in a shooting that happened Sunday.

Laurel police officers were called to the 14700 block of Baltimore Avenue for a report of a shooting around 1 p.m. They found two people with gunshot wounds at the Towne Centre at Laurel. Both were taken to local trauma centers with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, according to Laurel Police.

The investigation indicates that the shooting happened when two people met in person to finish an online sale.

"We remind community members to use designated safe‑exchange locations for online transactions," the Laurel Police Department stated.

Those safe-exchange locations include the Laurel Police Department at 811 5th Street or the Howard County Police Southern District Station at 11226 Scaggsville Road. The lobbies of the stations can also be used as a meet-up spot.
