74-Year-Old, Teen Die After Vehicle Leaves I-495, Crashes Into Woods: MD State Patrol

A 74-year-old woman and a teen died after the vehicle the woman was driving left the road and crashed into the woods, MD State Patrol says.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — A 74-year-old Beltsville woman died after the vehicle she was driving left I-495 and crashed into a wooded area, police say. A teenager also died in the crash.

Maryland State Police are investigating the incident that happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. May 7 in the area of outer loop Interstate 495 at exit 27 (Interstate 95). Maryland State Patrol troopers found Dorothy Skinner in the wreckage of her Ford vehicle. She was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle, Loren Jones, 15, of Hyattsville was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Three other passengers also were taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
