9-Week-Old Girl Dies in Landover Crash
Police say the infant died two days after two cars collided on Landover Road near I-495.

LANDOVER, MD — An infant girl has died after a crash in Landover involving two cars recently.
Police were called to the 9200 block of Landover Road at around 9:35 p.m. March 2 for a report of a crash. Emergency personnel transported a 9-week-old girl who was in one of the cars to the hospital, where she died two days later, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.
"The preliminary investigation reveals the car carrying the victim was traveling on Landover Road and was attempting to turn onto I-495," the report states. "As that car was turning, it was struck by the second car which was traveling in the opposite direction on Landover Road. The victim was in a child safety seat at the time of the collision. The driver of the second car remained on the scene."

The infant's name was not released at the request of the family.
The driver of the car carrying the baby had non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital. The second car had three occupants, and the two passengers suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, while the driver declined transport to the hospital.
