Avery, Bascom Help Baysox Edge Reading, 1-0

Xavier Avery's early RBI single stood up, and Tim Bascom threw seven shutout innings as Bowie edged Reading, 1-0, Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium.

Avery got an RBI single in the bottom of the third to give Bowie the one-run lead. Strangely, that turned out to be the final Baysox hit of the night as J.C. Ramirez threw a complete game two-hitter—and lost.

Avery got both of the Bowie hits in the win.

Bascom (5-2) gave up just three hits in seven innings. Wynn Pelzer got through the eighth, and Brandon Cooney earned his second save with a scoreless ninth.
