Ballard Strikes Out 11, Helps Bowie to 4-1 Win
Starter gives up first-inning homer, then retires 20 straight as Baysox top Reading.

Michael Ballard gave up just two hits in seven-plus innings to help Bowie to a 4-1 victory over Reading Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium.
Ballard gave up a first-inning solo homer to Michael Spidale, the second batter of the game. But Ballard then retired 20 consecutive batters before the first two in the eighth reached, and he was pulled.
Ballard improved to 4-0 with the win. He gave up the one run on two hits, struck out 11 and didn't walk any. Pat Egan came on to earn his first save with two hitless innings.

Bowie got one run in the first on a Joe Mahoney sacrifice fly. The Baysox took the lead for good with two in the second when Ronnie Welty got a tie-breaking RBI single, and Kyle Hudson added an RBI groundout.
Welty's RBI double in the sixth made it 4-1, and that was enough on this night.
