Richmond scored four runs in the first off Chorye Spoone (1-4), one scoring when Justin Christian came across while Bowie caught another runner in a rowdown. But Ronnie Welty's three-run homer sparked a four-run fourth that tied the game.
The Flying Squirrels then scored two in the sixth for the win. Richmond broke the tie on second baseman Greg Miclat's throwing error, and it added one more later.

Nick Bierbrodt came on and gave Bowie some solid work in relief, throwing 2 1/3 shutout innings and giving up just one hit.
Bowie slipped to 34-33 with the loss. The series continues in Richmond on Saturday.
