Baysox Edge Richmond, End Losing Streak

Bowie holds on for 5-4 victory to snap four-game losing skid Thursday night.

The Baysox used a four-run rally in the fifth inning to take command Thursday night en route to a 5-4 victory over Richmond.

That win improved Bowie's record to 68-56 and gave the Baysox a 1 1/2-game lead over Richmond (66-57) in the battle for the Western Division's final playoff spot. Bowie now has 18 games left this season.

Xavier Avery got an RBI double while Joe Mahoney and Pedro Florimon each had RBI singles in the four-run fifth. Greg Miclat added a run on an RBI fielder's choice as Bowie turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead.

Mahoney's sacrifice fly in the seventh made it 5-3. Zach Clark (8-8) gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings to get the win. Jose Diaz got the save despite allowing a solo homer in the ninth.

Bowie now goes to Trenton for a three-game series there this weekend.
