For the week, the 23-year old Miclat, a fifth-round pick of the Orioles in 2008, hit .652 (15-of-23) with 11 runs scored, six stolen bases and four RBI.

In 78 games this season, the speedy Miclat, who leads Bowie with 31 stolen bases, is batting .278 with a team-high 49 runs scored and 15 extra base hits (10 doubles, three triples, two home runs). He also boasts a .355 on-base percentage.

BASCOM NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAM

Starting pitcher Tim Bascom, who has posted wins in three of his last four starts, was named to the Eastern League’s Western Division All-Star team Friday, replacing Richmond’s Eric Surkamp on the roster. He joins fellow Baysox Caleb Joseph and Xavier Avery on the Western Division roster.

Bascom (5-2, 2.96 ERA), who is tied with Zach Clark with a team-high five wins, is 3-0 with a 1.36 ERA in nine appearances, including four starts, during June and July.

The 26-year old Bascom, a fourth-round pick of the Orioles in 2007, has tallied 61 strikeouts, and just 21 walks, in 73 innings of work this season. He has limited opposing hitters to a meager .217 batting average.
