Bowie gets strong effort from Johnson and others in victory.

Right-hander Steve Johnson threw six strong innings to help Bowie to a 4-2 victory over Altoona Thursday afternoon.

Johnson gave up just one run on five  hits in six innings. He struck out seven without a walk and lowered his ERA to 1.98 while improving to 3-1.

Jose Diaz earned his 15th save by pitching the ninth despite giving up one run.

Bowie (24-23) got one run in the first, two in the third and one in the fifth. The Baysox got RBIs from Robbie Widlansky, Steven Lerud and Pedro Florimon and also scored a run on a throwing error.
