Bomb Squad Called In To Exam Suspicious Ammunition Box: Prince George's Fire Official

The bomb squad was called in to examine a suspicious old military-style ammunition box brought to the fire station by a homeowner.

BRANDYWINE, MD โ€” A local homeowner recently stumbled upon an old military-style ammunition box on his property and after he opened the lid and saw what was inside, he headed straight for the nearest fire station.

The homeowner believed the contents of the ammunition box were similar to dynamite, so he reached out for help, according to the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department.

The ammunition box was placed on the front sidewalk of the fire station June 5 and surrounding properties were evacuated, including Gwynn Park High School, which is where additional emergency vehicles and personnel called in to help positioned themselves. The incident unfolded after 6 p.m., so there weren't many people at the school, officials noted.
