Bowie Nips Reading In Wild Game
The Baysox survive two rain delays and a blown five-run lead to pull out 8-7 victory.

Billy Rowell's RBI single in the eighth inning gave Bowie a wild 8-7 victory over Reading Thursday night.
The Baysox took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, but Reading pulled into a 5-5 tie in the fifth. Bowie took a 7-5 lead before losing that also before Rowell's single in the eighth proved enough for the victory—which came after two rain delays.
Reading banged out 17 hits in the game and left 11 on base. The Phillies hurt their cause by going just 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Bowie (34-32) appeared ready for a rout when Buck Britton's three-run double sparked a five-run first. But starter Zach Clark couldn't hold it, struggling through five innings as the Phillies tied it. He gave up five runs on 11 hits.
Steve Lerud's two-run double in the fifth made it 7-5, but Reading tied it with single runs in the sixth and seventh. That set up Rowell's game-winning hit in the ninth, which scored Lerud, who had singled and eventually got to third. Wynn Pelzer (3-6) got the win in relief, and Armando Gabino earned his first save.
